What to Get Ready
Familiarise yourself with the 📄 Addition Towers investigation before the lesson so that you understand how the game works.
Copy the 1-12 track onto the A3 paper (see the 📄 Addition Towers sheet), or use the track provided in the 3rd sheet of 📄 Addition Towers.
Main Activity
Discuss the game with your student, explaining how to play.
Ask lots of ‘Why…?’ and ‘How do you know…?’ questions to encourage your student to reason about their mathematical thinking throughout the activity.
