Today's Lesson

Assignment

This lesson works towards Assignment 12. Please access the Assignment for details about what you will need to submit to your Wolsey Hall tutor.

Introduction

During this lesson your student will complete the written task which will be submitted as Assignment 12.

By today, your student should have worked on, and hopefully completed, the first three ‘frames’ of their comic strip sequence.

Remind your student that it is a good idea to re-read what they have written, to look at what has gone well and then look at what is left to do and what could be made even better. Explain that this process is called ‘editing’.

Main Activity

Together with your student, re-read their work, looking especially at capital letters and full stops that might be missing. You may also want to look for any missing question marks and exclamation marks.

Challenge your student again to include ‘-ing’ words in their writing.

Give your student today’s session to finish their work, colour in their pictures and make sure they are happy with their three-frame comic strip.

When they are ready, upload this as Assignment 12.

What to Notice

While they are doing this activity, remember to praise your student for the skills they are using.

For example:

‘Your pictures are very good and detailed.’

‘You have taken such care over your comic strip!’
