πŸ“„ PRINT & CUT OUT - Minibeasts flash cards

Suggest some ways that you can group these small animals, e.g. some have wings, some have no legs. Ask your child to explain the criteria they have chosen for separating them.

Access the internet and ask your child to choose about 10 different birds and think of the criteria which they will use to sort them into different groups. Ask your child to choose three different ways to sort the birds, e.g., flightless and flying, carnivorous and fruit eating, sorting by size, sea, fresh water and land birds etc… This way they will be able to see the similarities and differences between the different birds. Ask your child to use lined paper and divide it into sections for the different criteria and note down the birds in each group.

Go outside and collect different shaped leaves with your child and ask them to choose criteria for sorting them. Then encourage them to try sorting the leaves in a different way. If you have no leaves available, choose 15 different living things.
