Today's Lesson

Main Activity

Today we are looking at land use in cities - it isn't all squashed in higgledy-piggledy!

4b.pngStart by looking at Slides 1 - 12 of the Land Use PowerPoint with your student to find out some of the different land uses in cities.

Next we will see how those land uses are divided into different categories and land use zones.

Read Slides 13 - 20 and complete the tasks. The Land Use Worksheet is a copy of Slide 18 for you to print out.

Keep this work safe as you will need it again next lesson.

Challenge Activity

4c.pngAsk your student to think about your nearest city. Does it fit the categories and zones you have learnt about today? If you live in or close to a city, perhaps you could visit each of the zones to see the differences for yourselves.
