Today's Lesson

Main Activity

1c.pngWhat is a settlement? It is anywhere that people live, and settlements come in all shapes and sizes. Read through the Types of Settlement PowerPoint and have a go at the tasks at the end. Bear in mind that the next few lessons are based on settlement types in the UK, and if you live elsewhere in the world the settlements may be different.

Now complete the Settlement Typesย worksheet.

Now think about where you live - is it a hamlet, village, town, or city? Look at a map of your settlement and explain which features show you the type of settlement.

Challenge Activity

02 no hat.pngOn a map, can you find the nearest example to where you live of each type of settlement?
