Today's Lesson
Introduction
If possible, take your student outside to explore the different materials which can be found in your local area. You might want to start with a local park or green area. Alternatively, a more built up area is absolutely fine, provided your student is working safely.
Take with you a clipboard and paper and ask your student to draw things they see that are used outdoors.
For example: a car, a lawn mower, a shed, a lamppost, a gate, fencing.
They should then label their drawings with the name of the object and the material it is made from.
Main Activity
Back indoors, turn to pages 38 and 39 in CGP Year 1 Science Study & Activity book.
Look at the picture of the allotment with your student and discuss all the objects they can see. Ask your student to complete the activity across the two pages.
