Introduction

Watch the RSPCA YouTube video which explains what is needed when taking care of pets.

When your student has finished watching, discuss the video and the issues raised that you think are important to remember.

Main Activity

List the important things that you have discussed on a sheet of paper, with the type of animal and the issues next to it, so your student can see an effective way of making a list of things to remember.

Next, ask your student to make a poster to encourage and inform people about how best to take care of their pets.

Explain that when we encourage someone to do something, we try to make them do it because it is a good idea. When we inform them, we give them facts and information, so they understand more about what they are doing.

Extra Challenge

If your student is ready for an extra challenge, ask them to use their cuddly toys to make a pet shop! They can then tell members of their family or friends, which animals are great pets and what they need to be cared for as they visit your pretend pet shop.
