Assignment
This is an assignment lesson. Please access Assignment 3 for details of what you will need to submit to your student's Wolsey Hall tutor
Main Activity
Turn to pages 24 & 25 of CGP Year 1 Science Activity & Study Book.
Help your student to read through the information on page 24. Take a note of the vocabulary in red as you read together.
Once you have read through the text, or during your reading, discuss with your student any mammals that you may know. For example, pet dogs, cats, gerbils. Discuss the similarities that they have. For example, dogs and cats both have backbones and fur. Discuss the differences with flying mammals, such as bats.
Support your student in finding pictures of different mammals on the internet and identify together some of the features found on page 24.
Support your student to complete the activities on page 25.
Turn to pages 26 & 27 of CGP Year 1 Science Activity & Study Book.
Help your student to read through the information on page 26. Challenge your student, with support where needed, to read aloud the vocabulary highlighted in red.
Look at the six different birds at the bottom of page 26, and name them by challenging your student to read the names.
Look up different types of birds on the internet and look at the similarities and differences between them. Discuss together whether you have seen any birds recently, either in the garden, or when generally outside.
Support your student to complete the activities on page 27.
